I mentioned last month that we were looking for Cinematic Designers at Cryte. We STILL are, so if you've got experience doing this, or a real talent for teling stories visually, then hit us up at www.crytek.com

To make this mysterious job a heck of a lot more easy to understand, I've written a breakdown for how we did it on Crysis 2 (and for that matter how we do it on most games). You can find that at CryDev.net. Just follow this link: http://www.crydev.net/newspage.php?news=77061. You can also find the listing on Polycount.com

We're looking for Cinematic Designers at Crytek. While trying to link to the site for this, I ran across this: http://vimeo.com/19422905. It appears to be a fan tribute to me- I'm sitting here, kinda speechless. What do I say? Someone went through the trouble of doing this- for me. I'm very honored, Jason, and I'm not sure what to say.... but for those who check out the video, I'd like you guys to know that some of those shots I can't take credit for, but either way, everything I do is because I'm part of a great team with tremendous talent- as an Animation and Cinematic Director I rely on the talents of a large number of people to help make the things you see in our games. I guess that brings me to the point of this post, the Cinematic Designer: http://www.crydev.net/newspage.php?news=70367. There will be a "from the desk of the Cinematic Director" feature online soon to explain what we do an how we do it. If you have a demo reel, understand the principles of camera, staging, blocking, pacing and what a beat is, send in your resume at www.crytek.com. Oh, and note down that I told ya :)

Now the word is out- Crysis, the original PC destroying monster, is coming out for XBOX Live and Playstation Network! As you can see below, the task to create Crysis 2 on the consoles was a big feat, but to port Crysis over, with new particles, new suit controls that are beter to use with the controller? The wizards over in Frankfurt and our UK studio did one hell of a job, so check ot the trailer and buy the game next month!

The other day I was thinking "with all these new projects starting, when was the last time I updated the site?". So I log on here and see it was in February of last year! For shame! So what's been going on since then? Well, Crysis 2 shipped on XBOX 360, Playstation 3 and PC. The original Crysis, while a super-powerhouse of graphics, was woefully unoptimized, and when we were told that Crysis 2 was going to be a big push on console (as well as PC), we all went "how the hell are we going to pull that off?". But as Crytek always has, the game teams and R&D teams made it work, and it's been a great seller so far. If you haven't played it, you can buy it here. For those of you PC lovers out there, Crytek has also delivered the DX11 Patch for Crysis 2, so you can bring your computer rigs to a standstill again...

On a seperate note, there's a big announcement coming around the corner from Crytek. We're all excited about it, so make sure you check the Crytek website from time to time in the upcoming weeks!

Well, here we are... back from almost a one year break, having gotten rid of a horrible hosting company, fought off some scumbag Ukranian Domain Camper, and with a whole new image. It's been a long year for sure with a lot going on- the release of Crysis: Warhead went well, and Crysis 2 has just recently been announced. Thanks for stopping by and please excuse the mess as we go live again. -Steve
